Namita Gautham Of Take A Bow Joins The POPxo Blog Network

A quirky yet grounded sense of fashion, a series of offbeat yet super stylish photo-shoots, and a penchant for good writing – these are a few things that made us fall in love instantly with Namita. Namita Gautham of Take A Bow is a young, self-proclaimed “eccentric” fashion blogger based out of Bangalore. As she joins the POPxo Blog Network this month, we asked her a few question to get started. Read on…

What sparked your interest in fashion?

The inability to buy clothes for myself. They say you are always attracted to something that looks un-achievable – for me, being a well-dressed lady was that. I grew up as a tomboy (still am) who would juggle between two pairs of denims, and two pairs of shorts, and 4 tee shirts. Because I largely lacked a “fashion sense ”, and did not develop a liking to it early on, I decided to got at with a sense of vengeance.

What is your first fashion/beauty memory?

My first tryst with beauty was at my birthday party in the first or second grade, when a friend of mine spotted my mum’s rouge lying on the dresser.Because I liked her so much, I gave it away without asking anyone. From then on, my mum always kept her makeup away from prying eyes. I didn’t get busted though – she was happy that I was a generous do-gooder.

What is your personal style statement?

On most days, I’m either running late, or riding a motorbike to work – so pants paired with whatever is on top of the clothes pile is how I go. But on a more convenient day, it’s sporty, sometimes grunge, and sometimes girly. I always dress according to my mood.

What made you take up blogging?

I started blogging in the hope that it would help with my lack of having a fashion background – I wanted to better my resume in order to land myself a job. I would pass on my blog link as collateral at interviews so that some fashion firm would hire me. And they did!

What would you like to tell all aspiring bloggers?

To not be a sell-out. What I mean is that  it’s great to make money from blogging, but don’t just do something for the heck of it. Blog because you love it and because you want to show the world who you are, not what a brand wants you to be.

The POPxo Quiz

1. One beauty product you swear by

Virgin coconut oil.

2. An outfit you could live in for the rest of your life

A one-piece swimsuit. But i’m pretty sure some political party will object to that.

3. Your biggest guilty pleasure

I’m quite the girl of measured means. I don’t splurge on anything except on good skincare products.

4. The one trend/style you would NEVER wear

Fur. I don’t want to look like my dog, neither do I want to encourage people to wear someone else’s skin. Wear your own, flaunt those stretch marks, walk around the house naked, you’ll feel good.

5. Success is?

Loving what you do!

6. Fame or money?

Fame. Money follows.

7. You look up to?

The girl I day-dream about becoming one day. Hopefully I’ll be like her in a few years.

8. The ONE thing no one knows about you?

That I have a friend from Kerala who gets me a litre of virgin coconut oil (in a black plastic bag) each time I run out. I call him my dealer.

9. What is your biggest strength?

My biceps – I flex them and get sh*t done. Jokes apart, my real strength lies with the people around me – they are the ones who would never let me give up.

10.If you could be anyone for a day, who would you like to be?

Whoever Sidharth Malhotra is hitting on that day.

One last question: How does it feel to be part of the POPxo Blog Network?

After being a blogger for nearly 4 years, it’s about time I became a part of a influential network. I’ve been avoiding going out there and keeping blogging as a hobby, but being a part of an actual platform that shares similar interests, feels great. It feels like my make-do resume is more than just that.
