Shristi Soumya of Style Fashion Etc Joins The POPxo Blog Network

Her blog is very clear about what it wants to be. It’s a journey, she says, nonchalantly. It’s always the journey and not really the destination. That’s exactly how StyleFashionEtc operates and Shristi Soumya who manages the blog along with her fun partner Aman leads the way with her personal style, innovative beauty ideas and lots of DIYs. It’s almost like a diary, so personal, so focussed and so vivid – at the same time, it’s informative and challenging the way we dress everyday.

Started in 2010 by a freelance stylist Shristi (who prefers you call her Srish), StyleFashionEtc is an amalgamation of experiences – from fashion, beauty, lifestyle with a clear emphasis on helping readers find fashion in their otherwise boring wardrobes. As the stylish lady joins the POPxo Blog Network, we make sure we quiz her on her style essentials and her many interests.

What sparked your interest in fashion?

When I started blogging, I was just half-way interested in fashion. I learned a lot during my first year of blogging – getting exposed to so much fashion, style and creativity sparked my interest in real fashion. I was finishing college, and then I opted for Post Graduation in Fashion Design. So, my first year of blogging was like a turning point of my life as well as my career.

What is your first fashion memory?

As far as I can think back, a complimentary tweet from Nikhil of Shantanu & Nikhil duo is my biggest fashion memory. At the time, I was new to blogging, and being asked by one of my favorite designers to pose for them and then tweeting the picture saying “Met a Fashion Blogger today who actually dresses like a fashion blogger!” was kinda big -a huge deal!

What is your personal style statement?

I like to think of my personal style as eclectic while also being city chic. I like to mix things up but I don’t go so off-beat that it would offend someone or somebody would say “I would never wear that!”. I don’t dress up to please people, but to be comfortable while still being different from the crowd. Why to blend in, when you can stand out!

What made you take up blogging?

I was always very interested in reading blogs. But, 4 years back, there were not a lot of Indian fashion bloggers so Aman, the co-founder of Style Fashion Etc, suggested that we start one. And I liked the idea of sharing my everyday style on a digital portal and documenting the prime years of my life when I knew I will be converging slowly to become the person I had always wanted to be.

What would you like to tell all aspiring bloggers?

To be true to yourself. It’s very easy to lose your personal style in today’s fashion frenzy but you need to hold tight to your style and bend the trends to make them your own. Your uniqueness will bring back your readers so don’t ever try to blend in.
